Out of Sight, Out of Time by Ally Carter

Happy Saint Patricks Day Everyone!

The last thing Cammie Morgan remembers is leaving the Gallagher Academy to protect her friends and family from the Circle of Cavan--an ancient terrorist organization that has been hunting her for over a year. But when Cammie wakes up in an alpine convent and discovers months have passed, she must face the fact that her memory is now a black hole. The only traces left of Cammie’s summer vacation are the bruises on her body and the dirt under her nails, and all she wants is to go home.

Once she returns to school, however, Cammie realizes that even the Gallagher Academy now holds more questions than answers. Cammie, her friends, and mysterious spy-guy Zach must face their most difficult challenge yet as they travel to the other side of the world, hoping to piece together the clues that Cammie left behind. It’s a race against time. The Circle is hot on their trail and willing stop at nothing to prevent Cammie from remembering what she did last summer.

This is a brilliant book. I made the mistake, the first time I read this book, of rushing through the book too quickly to learn the truths of all the secrets this book reveals. I was speed reading so much, that I was unable to appreciate the wonderful writing style and characters of Ally Carter. I was able to enjoy this book much more the second time because I slowed down and became marveled at the excitement and maturity of the characters.

It is amazing how much Cammie and her friends, Macey, Bex and Liz, have changed since the first book. They are now more mature and more careful because they acknowledge that the adventures they go on are serious. They still manage to have fun and love Rome. I found their friendship is still strong but much more strianed. That made sense because Cammie left them worrying for months. I was laughing when Cammie became jealous of Bex and Zach new close friendship. I thought it was a great idea to have Zach be close and have a real conversation with Cammie's friends. I disliked how Zach seemed to only talk to Cammie in the other books.

I was completely surprised at all the revelations. The revelations were all perfectly paced, realistic and moving. All the fight scenes and escapes were amazingly detailed. I was complete scared during the moment where Cammie remembered what happened to Summer Cammie.

The characters in this book are outstanding. I was so glad when a certain male character returned in this book. I missed him so much in the fourth book and liked how he knows the truth. I am so afraid for this character in the next book. I like how this books makes me feel connected to the characters. I would love Cammie as a best friend. She is so friendly, caring, creative and intelligent.

Over all, I found this book a formidable addition to the amazing Gallagher Girls series. I just wish that the next book would come out six mouths from now instead of most likely two years. I felt a little disconnected and confused during the first part of this book because he last book came out two years ago.

Once, I remembered all the facts, I completely enjoyed this action filled book. If you like this series and books about spies taking action, you must read this book.

4.5 OUT OF FIVE STARS!

  1. Great review, Rachel! I haven't read this series yet but I'd definitely love to. I love mysteries so I'm sure I'd enjoy this one as well.

I'm quite a slow reader which can be really annoying when you have to read a given book in a certain time but the only thing I like about it is that at least I can enjoy and appreciate the writing style. :)

I'm glad you enjoyed this one!

  2. I had anticipated this book for a year now, and it did not disappoint! At first, I was slightly skeptical of the plot compared to other books. I mean, memory loss is something that either works or doesn't, and fortunately for this book it worked.
