Meant To Be by Lauren Morill
Publisher: Delacorte
Publication Date: November 13th, 2012
Synopsis:
Meant to be or not meant to be . . . that is the question.
It's one thing to fall head over heels into a puddle of hazelnut coffee, and quite another to fall for the—gasp—wrong guy. Straight-A junior Julia may be accident prone, but she's queen of following rules and being prepared. That's why she keeps a pencil sharpener in her purse and a pocket Shakespeare in her, well, pocket. And that's also why she's chosen Mark Bixford, her childhood crush, as her MTB ("meant to be").
But this spring break, Julia's rules are about to get defenestrated (SAT word: to be thrown from a window) when she's partnered with her personal nemesis, class-clown Jason, on a school trip to London. After one wild party, Julia starts receiving romantic texts . . . from an unknown number! Jason promises to help discover the identity of her mysterious new suitor if she agrees to break a few rules along the way. And thus begins a wild goose chase through London, leading Julia closer and closer to the biggest surprise of all: true love.
Because sometimes the things you least expect are the most meant to be.

Why oh why?
I always have had a thing for secret admirers (or secret haters). The first ever episode of my favorite comedy, How I Met Your Mother, that I saw was the one where Barney has a secret hater that he and his friends try to figure out. That episode caused me to start watching and enjoying that show. So its no surprise that I am transfixed and really want to read read this book. I want to find out Julia's secret admirer. And hopefully to feel a strong connection with Julia as a I read this book. I hope Jason is swoonworthy and flawfull. I hope I find passages in this book where I cannot stop and think about him. Who knows? Hopefully all my hopes will be answered. I will just have to wait and see for Meant to Be to come out.
And the characters go to... Wait for it... London!!!!! Alright, you probably already know that from the summary but I felt like making a reference. (If you watched a certain show, you know what I mean) I love London!!!! I love the Tube! I love the open-air markets! I love the awesome Changing of the Guard ceremony, despite how hard it is to see the action. I cannot wait to read about the trip to London.
Thanks for reading!
YES! I'm so excited for this one too Rachel! It's on NetGalley at the moment and I can't wait to get my hands on it. I love that it sounds like Julia and Jason are going to have a bit of an antagonistic relationship, those just make me happy:)
ReplyDeleteThis one is high on my lists as well! I love the cover and the blurb makes it sound like a good fit for me! Also, the same as you, I have a weakness for books set in London! I hope this one lives up to expectations!
ReplyDelete(this is Jessie from Ageless Pages -- I followed you back! love the blog layout, too!)
I remember this being up in Netgalley but it was only open for U.S. reviewers. :( I was instantly hooked the first time I saw this and really, being a contemporary girl this went straight to my pile. I love the sound of it and school trip to London? I'm totally sold! Haha! Great pick, Rachel! Really looking forward for this one too. :)
ReplyDeleteI actually prefer it when books aren't set in London as I live here! It never seems to feel right... I do like the sound of this story though. The cover is very cute too! Great pick, Rachel. :)
ReplyDeletei got an early copy of this one on netgalley but i just couldn't get into it. i hope when you get your copy that you love it. happy reading :)

ReplyDeleteAwesome pick this week, Rachel! <3

ReplyDelete*fist pump* Yay, go London! Unfortunately, I wasn't born nor currently live there, but I'm an anglophile at heart, you know. :)
ReplyDeleteFantastic pick, Rachel! I am officially in love with the cover. :) It is making me swoooon... I'm getting a bookgasm just looking at it!
Thank you for sharing, darling!
I've heard SO MANY good things about this one. And you're totally right... Secret admirers AND London!?!? Want want want!

ReplyDeleteYes, yes, yes, yes, yes! This sounds so great! I've heard so many good things about it, and the cover is SO PRETTY.<3
ReplyDeleteHow I Met Your Mother is hilarious. :D Though I haven't watched the episode you mentioned... Do you watch The Big Bang Theory? Love it.(':
Yay, shoutout for London! But you won't love the Tube if you have to use it during rush hour and they're completely cramped -_-
Great pick, I hope we both get to read this soon!
Rachel I can't wait for this either! I pre-ordered my copy the other day they had a fantastic offer on the book depo! The cover is so pretty too! I hope we all love it!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the cover for this one so much-it's super pretty but I also love the synopsis!
ReplyDeleteContemporary is not really my thing, but I've heard so many amazing things about this one, I must admit I am tempted.
ReplyDeleteGreat pick, Rachel. And the cover is so pretty.
THIS SOUNDS LIKE SO MUCH FUN!! <3 I am really, really excited to read it. And I don't always get excited over contemporaries (until I discover months after everyone else has read a certain title, that it's AWESOME). The cover alone just gives off this really vibrant feel, but I love the whole secret admirer thing and London and the fact that Julie and Jason are TOTALLY going to fall for each other :D
ReplyDeleteWant! Want! Want!
I like the cover for this, it's the main reason I want to read it! I've read mixed reviews so I am hoping it's good :)
ReplyDeleteI'm really looking forward to reading this. It sounds so good! I really like the cover too. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my Waiting on Wednesday. :)
This sounds so cute! I adore the cover. Great pick!
