I never imagined that I would be able to find a song that spoke to my heart as much as Stand By Me by Ben E. King. But recently I discovered an unforgettable song that has influenced my life in many ways. I hope everyone enjoys and gathers inspiration from my story of my discovery of this song and how it has changed my life.
We Are Young by the band Fun is an amazing song that I discovered a few weeks ago riding home on my bus. I will always remember the day. I just spent the day, during my free time, reading The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead. I just finished the ending when I heard the following lyrics from the school bus's radio.
"Tonight
We are young
So we set the world on fire
We can burn brighter
Than the sun." - Fun
These words spoke to me. I just finished an amazing book and I realized that although I am sad because a book I love is over and I would never be able to read it for the first time again, I am still young. I still have time to experience a pleasurable reading of a book for the first time again. There is still time to take changes and enjoy being young. I always want to live those amazing days when everything is perfect. I wish life could be perfect forever.
And now, whenever I hear this song, I feel completely happy and reminisce about that book. Its so nice and so rare for me to find a song that reminds me of a book I love.

Then, I was reading on the same school bus Rivals by Lauren Kunze and Rina Onur when the song rang from the radio again. (during intense scene between Callie and Gregory I must add) Now every time I hear this song I also fondly reminisce on that outstanding book!
Finally, the greatest piece of power and inspiration this song has is to not regret mistakes. Regret not learning from them. The speaker of this song subtly evokes a story of a young man who made a mistake and is now dealing with the consequences.
I made so many embarrassing mistakes the last two weeks. But each mistake I made is an experience I will never forget. All my mistakes have inspired me to try harder in dealing with problems that are not easy to solve.

Do you have any songs that are inspiring to you or cause you to reminisce on an amazing book?
Thanks for reading and viewing!
Oh, Rachel! This is so beautiful <3 <3 I have many inspirational songs :) And so many more that reminds me of my favourite books <3 ;)
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, thank God, we are young and we can experience all these amazing things in the world. I love it!
I love it! I've heard this song before, but never watched the video clip for it.
ReplyDeleteI often listen to music when I read, and because I'm kind of...obsessive... (like, listen to the SAME song over and over and over again, especially when it's new) I do get an association between the album and the book. Often they don't really have anything in common though.
When I write, I can't listen to music, or I get distracted, but I do have songs that I associate with my characters.
And I do love being the age I am now. Don't yet have all the responsibilities and committments of a family - but old enough to be able to make my own decisions about where I go and what I do. :-)
This is a brilliant post <3
ReplyDeleteI just became your 300th follower too!
Also, I love, love, love this song. Like, really love it. Heard it a while back and just keep listening to it over and over again. It's amazing <3
Generally I don't put books and songs together but when I was reading The Emerald City by Alicia Leppert, I started listening to a song called 'The Story of Us' by He Is We and it all just connected together and felt so perfect. I loved it. I always think of this book when I hear this song, and well, I just love the song so much.

Songs can be so inspirational and a great way of remembering happy times/memories/books!
ReplyDeleteI love this song beyond words. Whenever it comes on TV I make everyone shut up so I can crank the music, close my eyes, and just listen.
ReplyDeleteIt's my 'chill song'.
Another great one is Sleeping At Last by Turning Page and I will always love Taylor Swift's Our Song. It just reminds me of a happy time.
I LOVE when a song can take you back to a happy memory!! And that song is absolute perfection!!
ReplyDeleteHave you heard the Glee Cast version? It's actually pretty amazing!
I just watched the Glee version yesterday! It was wonderful!
DeleteAwww, that's such a beautiful song, Rachel! I love it when a song reminds you of a book because it sets the tone for the scene so much better! Sometimes when I'm reading a sad scene in a book, I like to go back and re-read it to a sad song and it makes it INFINITELY more beautiful (and tear-jerking)! Now when I get my copy of The Golden Lily in June, I'll probably be imagining this song playing in my head x)
ReplyDeleteThis was such a sweet piece of blogspiration, Rachel! I've made so many mistakes in life too, but they always help us grow more in the future :) <3
Beautiful song and lovely post! Thanks for sharing! :D
ReplyDeleteI know the Glee cast version (not the original), and despite it being NOTHING like the music I ordinarily I love, I just... I LOVE it. Thank you for sharing, Rachel! ♥
