Blogspiration 9!

Hi everyone!

Blogspiration is a weekly meme hosted by GrowingUp YA & Saz101. The meme was created to help spark inspiration among bloggers, readers & writers alike. An inspirational quote/picture/video is posted weekly, on the day of the author's choosing, so that it may inspire creativity, conversation & just a little SOMETHING.

This will be my first blogspiration where I introduce a beautiful quote brought to my attention by my wonderful sister. My sister knew immediately how much I would connect to this quote! Enjoy!

"Books can be possessive, can't they? You're walking around in a bookstore and a certain one will jump out at you, like it had moved there on its own, just to get your attention. Sometimes what's inside will change your life, but sometimes you don't even have to read it. Sometimes it's a comfort just to have a book around. Many of these books haven't even had their spines cracked. 'Why do you buy books you don't even read?' our daughter asks us. That's like asking someone who lives alone why they bought a cat. For company, of course." --- Sarah Addison Allen, "The Sugar Queen"

I like this quote because it reminds me of how the most important thing in the world is to be near what and who you love.

What's your blogspiration this week?

Thanks for reading!

  2. LOL I love this quote! x) Books really DO keep us company sometimes. I actually have a bunch of books on my shelf that I haven't read yet, but I love having them there anyways because it sort of feels good to -- if that makes any sense haha! :') Needless to say, I can totally connect with this quote too! And your sister is awesome for finding it <3

Thanks so much for sharing this, Rachel! I always get so inspired with these blogspiration posts -- and I guess that's kinda the point! ;)

  3. Gosh, the quote speaks to my heart! <3 Having many books around me just bring me comfort. I feel calm that there are so many books waiting for me to open the page and read the story. Even the smell of books, especially old books, are comforting for me! Maybe that's why bookstore and library are one of my favorite places ever. <3

Amazing pick for inspiration this week, Rachel! <3

  6. Ooh, I like the picture of certain books demanding "ME! You need ME in your life!" But I think I'd need to open them at least once. I couldn't possibly have unread books lying around.

  8. Wow! I love this quote! Thanks so much for sharing it :) Weird confession, but I always sleep with my Nook in my bed and usually a hardback or two. It is such a comfort to have books around!

  10. LOVE IT!!! That rings so true for me, I definitely take comfort just being surrounded by books, even if I'm not picking them up to read them. Just knowing my favorites are sitting on a shelf waiting for me should I have a bad day and need the escape helps give me comfort. Thanks so much for sharing Rachel, I'm a new follower here and I can't wait to visit more often!

  11. Oh, THIS BIT: "Why do you buy books you don't even read?' our daughter asks us. That's like asking someone who lives alone why they bought a cat. For company, of course."

  13. Oh, I just LOVE The Sugar Queen and SAA. Seriously, her books are so wonderful that I've taken to spacing out my reading of them so I don't read them all at once.

But yes, this quote rings so true. I have a lot of books so I don't get lonely. <3
