Armchair BEA: Day 2- Blogger Development and Fiction

Hi! First, thanks to everyone who visited my blog yesterday!

Today's event for Armchair BEA is to discuss our development as a blogger and the genre fiction.

Blogger Development:

My blogging experiences has changed me. I started this blog simply to pass time and it has grown into something I love; as something that makes me smile everyday. Although I am busy with other responsibilities, I enjoy blogging during my free time. My reasons to blog are varied: loving the community, the bloggers the met and the authors I interacted with. I also enjoy expressing my feelings about books, so others can discover new stories.  I hope to spend this summer blogging and enjoying my last summer before college. I hope to finally create a header for my blog - particularly with graphic designing. If anyone knows how to do this, feel free to email me.

I hope to have posts that are not just reviews. I want to make a post like What Makes A Series Too Long and a post on Remember the Animals where I discuss my favorite animal characters in literature.

My dream is to pursue a career as a publisher, editor or literary agent. Manuscripts intrigue me and I want to help authors through the process of drafting books. I hope my enjoyment of writing reviews on this blog will help me accomplish that goal.

Mostly I want to make sure that I keep in touch with the bloggers I met in the last year and continue being their friends, and keep reading and commenting on their blogs. I also hope to make other blogging friends.

This weekend, with some of my high school friends, I created my own bucket list for the future. This is mine:

1. Go to Australia.
2. Write the music and lyrics of a song.
3. Go to Israel.
4. Help someone overcome a fear.
5. Go snorkeling.
6. Write a book that I am proud of.
7. Be a beta reader for a writer I love.
8. Cook a delicious meal.
9. Light a candle all by myself, to no longer fear being burned.

Fiction:

I like any paranormal creature but zombies. My favorite paranormal books are about people with special powers such as reading minds, moving objects with their minds, and flying. I also like ghosts and vampires. Recently, my family and I have been packing up our books because we are moving and my sister joked about how all my books feature a vampire related name. That's not true, but many, not all, of my books have vampires.

The book that will always stand out to me for this genre is Hidden Talents by David Lubar. You can read my review for this amazing story here.

Thanks for reading!

  1. It was fun getting to know you better in this post. I hope you keep up blogging as much as you can while you are in college. You can even blog on books you are reading for college classes. I liked your bucket list, I should make one sometime. I hope you get that candle lit! I have a whole closet of candles if you are needing a nice smell good one :)

  2. Hi Rachel! Thanks for visiting my intro post yesterday. :) I definitely agree with you that blogging has made a monumental impact on my life. I just love it! I absolutely love the people.

You've set some awesome goals for your blog! I hope you achieve them all. :) I'm actually a graphic designer, and have designed several blog layouts for friends. If you need any help or advice, feel free to write to me. :)

  3. I haven't read Hidden Talents, but I really should since it's so important to you! And I think it's safe to say that blogging changed my life too, it changed all our lives, and the friendships and reading experiences that came out of it are simply amazing. I'd like to go to Israel and Australia too, but my greatest desire is to visit the American Deep South. Maybe this sounds weird, but I feel incredibly drawn to it.
OH, and being a beta for an author you adore is amazing! I've been beta reading for Ann Aguirre for a while now and it's been a magnificent experience. I hope you'll get a chance soon.

  4. I love your goals. Point 9 would be a good one for me too. I love the atmosphere of candlelight but cannot sleep after one has burned in my house. Good luck with them.

I love the animal feature idea!

  6. I like a good vampire book too lol. I've only read a handful of them though like VA, Twilight, Sookie Stackhouse, Immortal Rules, etc. I want to work as a publisher one day as well, but not sure if that'll ever happen lol. I don't see myself moving to a city any time soon.

  9. Guest posts are a great way to get posts other than reviews, and so many authors are willing to write about a range off subjects!

  10. It is funny how differently we see things. I am longing to write more reviews and you are thinking about less. :)

  11. Thank you for visiting my blog! It's great to discover so many new bloggers through this event.

I just moved a few weeks ago, and I had a LOT of boxes of books. The friends who helped me carry some of them were not amused.
