My review:
Peace of my Heart
by Lynn Maddelena Mena is a wonderful surprise. I never expected to relish this
novel. I like how the dramatic and expressive writing style compares well with
Marisol’s personality. When she sings, the writing breezes with enthusiasm.
Marisol lives in a world vastly different from my own in a
Latino community in New York. She is proud to be blessed with an amazing
signing voice. She is not the easiest character to love. But I grew to love
her. I liked her ambition, although it causes her to be brisk towards the
people who truly cared about her. She was running towards fame, living for
herself and not for others. Still she learns. And her actions lead her in
becoming an impressive human being.
The ending contains a jewel that lies by lyrical emotion.
