Demonglass by Rachel Hawkins

Hello Amazing Readers!

Demonglass is an amazing sequel of the Hex Hall series by Rachel Hawkins. This series is a tale full of death, betrayal, humor and romance. This story explores the charming setting of a country mansion in London as Sophie spends her summer with her dad and the Council of Prodigium. She has to deal with a scary demon-killing organization that the boy she loves is apart of and learns a terrible secret.

This book definitely fits my sequel syndrome; my tendency to love sequels the best in series. Other books that caused this delightful disease include: Stargazer by Claudia Gray, Frostbite by Richelle Mead and Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy by Ally Carter.

This book was extraordinary. I read Hex Hall a few months before I read this book and enjoyed it but did not see it as special. I was expecting to find a normal book that I would soon forget when I started this book. Instead I left reading this book feeling amazed. The story seems similar to other books in the paranormal genre, but, in my view, the writing, characters and plot twists in this book are remarkable.

There are so many hilarious lines in this book. I laughed so many times today as I read this book for the tenth time. All the jokes made this book so engaging. I cannot think of one page where I was bored. The story constantly changes and every time I read this book I achieve some new realization. Reading this book feels the same as watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I did not want the story to ever end. At the end of every chapter I was wishing for the next fight scene to come, the next big secret reveal.

Sophie is a fantastic heroine. She is warm, hilarious and cool. She can fight and is realistically struggling with her rare magical abilities. I love seeing Sophie's point of view of everyone in this book because she takes part of amazing adventures with sly humor.

I love the romantic scenes between Sophie and Archer. I like how there struggling romantic relationship has nothing to do with how they do not know they are in love but has to deal with society issues.

I find this book special because it shocks me and all the characters are develobed. It deals with strained father-daughter relationships, teenage struggles, fun parties and marvelous descriptions of setting and action.

I think anyone should read this book when the want a fantasy story that is well-writen, delightful and leaves you wishing the story never ended. I cannot wait to read Spellbound later this week when it finally arrives at my local independent bookstore!

What are you waiting for? By this Five out of Five star book!

  1. I loved this book, too! I loved the description and the fun that Sophie and everyone had at Thorne Abbey...until... :)

I was so torn in this book between Archer and Cal. Archer, the forbidden hot guy and Cal, the sweet, caring and healing hot guy. How does a girl choose between 2 hot guys? I've never had that pleasure! Hahah
